Investigating the snow!

On Monday we were lucky enough to have some snow to explore in the Nursery learning garden.

The Gingerbread Man

We have enjoyed the story of the Gingerbread man and especially enjoyed making our own gingerbread men!

In the construction area the challenge was to find a way for the Gingerbread man to cross the river so that he would not get wet or eaten by the fox.

We built bridges and made boats!

Chinese New Year in Nursery

We decorated the Home Corner with lanterns, lucky money envelopes, bowls and chopsticks. There was lots of interest in the new items!

Red and gold are lucky colours in China. We used these colours for the playdough.

We made our own dragon puppets.

Chinese New Year in Nursery

We cooked some noodles.

Some of us tried to use chopsticks!

We practised writing Chinese numbers.

Chinese New Year

Last week we were learning about Chinese New Year. This year Chinese New Year started from January 22nd and continues until February 6th. This year it is the year of the dragon.

We found out that there are 12 animals that each have a year named after them. Do you remember the story of how they decided which animal would have the first year? Click on the link to watch the story:

Beehive Rhyme

We have been singing this number rhyme in Nursery:

Here is the beehive (hand clenched tight). Where are the bees?

Hidden away where nobody sees!

Watch and you'll see them come out the hive.

1,2,3,4,5 (start to open your hand to represent the number of bees)!
